Saints Fans Are The Craziest

With Mardi Gras right around the corner it fits that Saints fans would costume at every opportunity and Sunday’s Superdome game against the Bucs was no exception. My daughter’s soccer team got free admission to the game in exchange for handing out promo cards to entering fans, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots of some of the wackier costumes, like this guy known as “Fleur de Licious”:

We even got some ideas for Mardi Gras costumes (since one of my neighbors is in a “Skeleton Gang” and might be able to get me in if I ask nicely):

And being WELL below the Mason-Dixon line we weren’t surprised to see an Elvis or two sporting the obligatory golden cape and shiny black hairstyle:

For most of my career I’ve gravitated toward making photographs of street culture (musicians, parades, performers, weird households, etc) a lot more than photographs of “high” culture (ballet, opera, museums). In a vibrant, fun-loving city like New Orleans those subjects, fortunately, are often right around the next corner.

…and that was just a small sampling of the crazy fun costumes, which makes you wonder what do these people do during the work week?
